My husband, three children and I recently went to Horrington Fete and had the absolute pleasure of watching a fantastic gundog display by Stephen Harrison from “One Man & His Gundogs”.

It was amazing! The control, the calmness and the absolute devotion of owner and dog was heart-warming and inspirational. There is nothing more special than witnessing a great display of companionship and devotion between human and dog, Daddy and pet. I have a fox red Labrador, Rufus, and I spoke to Stephen after the display. In the ten minutes of talking, I gained valuable advice, which I have already put into practice!

I cannot recommend highly enough watching one of Stephen’s displays: funny, entertaining and educational. Simply superb! Thank you for sharing what you do. You must truly love your job!

Dear Stephen,

I was extremely happy and impressed at how everything went off. Our correspondence before the event was very plain and straight forward, which, from an organiser's point of view, was most helpful.

On the day your demonstration was extremely informative and presented in an interesting and friendly fashion. Everyone enjoyed the first Dog’s basic training display and how you built on each stage as time went on, for a young dog it certainly showed what could be achieved by kindness and expert knowledge. The little Dog has a bright future ahead!

Poppy, the star of the show, was quite brilliant, not only in all her Gundog training but also the very entertaining tricks etc. she performed on the day. It was a great display and demonstration.

Provisionally, I would like to book you for next year, it is always the last Saturday in July, I will confirm everything after our next committee meeting later in the month.

Dear Mr Harrison,

I visited Winterbourne Church Fete on 23 June and was intrigued with your gundog demonstration. I must say that I have never seen such a wonderful display.

I have been involved in gundog scurries and retrieving competitions well in excess of 20 years. As a shooting man and springer spaniel owner, I have some insight into gundog trials.

In my opinion, your springer spaniel was the best I have ever seen, very steady and responsive to whistle and hand signals. You must be very proud of her, and so you should be. Congratulations on a wonderful display.

"Highlight of the day was Stephen Harrison's demonstration of dog training methods, gundog skills and tricks - with the help of Springer Spaniel Poppy and Labrador puppy Daisy.

He showed basic dog training techniques and also how gundogs hunt and retrieve.

The most popular part of the 30 minute show was a fun display of tricks by Poppy worthy of Britain's Got Talent's Pudsey. She balanced a sausage on her nose, danced, walked backwards, walked on Stephen's toes, did meerkat impressions, saluted and won everyone's heart".

I have witnessed dozens of gundog demonstrations in the 40 years I have been involved with Gundog displays. But yours was the most entertaining and informative display of man and dog working together that I have ever seen! Just brilliant!

It was clear that the dogs were clearly enjoying what they were doing (not always the case in some demonstrations) and you were informative on what you were asking the dogs to do and informing the public of this. I thought the range of tricks your dogs performed was stunning!
