Why not come and have a go at running your dog in a fun working test on 12 July?
Any breed and any age of dog can enter, the emphasis being on having fun with your dog having a go at 5 stands, each requiring you to send your dog for 2 retrieves over short distances. There’ll be water retrieves, obstacles to cross, marked, memory and blind retrieves – all sorts!
There’ll be loads of friendly people there to help you along and to ensure you enjoy the experience. Who knows, you might get a taste for working tests!
All this will be held at Mullenscote Dog Training Centre near Andover, Hants on Sunday 12 July from 10 until about 1230. The cost will be £10 per handler / dog combination and prizes will be awarded in 3 categories: puppies (up to 12 months of age), novices (dogs of any age that have not previously won a test) and open (any dog).
You will need to register your interest by emailing Howard Kirby at howard@lainsshootingschool.co.uk or by calling 01264 889467. Just mention my name (I’ll be judging one of the stands!)
I promise you it’ll be fun – the competitive element is very much secondary to like-minded people having a couple of hours of fun with their dogs.
Go on, you know you want to!
P.S. I’m entirely relaxed about being offered bribes, inducements or any other incentives to award high marks! Just let your imagination run riot.
