Daisy’s first day back working after recovering from her last foot injury. Flint on frozen ground = dangerous combination. Result? Deep slice to pad on same foot, different place. Poor thing – I feel so sorry for her.
Off to the vet again (I might as well live there) staples, laser, bandaging and another huge bill followed by 10-14 days rest and further vet visits.
So, two dogs currently stapled and recuperating. Shooting season ends right here. Off to sell Big Issue in Salisbury to help pay the bills.

"Highlight of the day was Stephen Harrison's demonstration of dog training methods, gundog skills and tricks - with the help of Springer Spaniel Poppy and Labrador puppy Daisy.

He showed basic dog training techniques and also how gundogs hunt and retrieve.

The most popular part of the 30 minute show was a fun display of tricks by Poppy worthy of Britain's Got Talent's Pudsey. She balanced a sausage on her nose, danced, walked backwards, walked on Stephen's toes, did meerkat impressions, saluted and won everyone's heart".

The Wessex Country Fair was thrilled to welcome you and your dogs back for a second year by popular request. Both you and the dogs were a huge hit again: the audience was once again thrilled by the level of obedience and skill shown, and thanks to your unique approach of breaking down the training to show how the dogs are taught, everyone was held spell bound for the whole display. I'm sure some went home inspired to improve the obedience of their own dogs!

It was lovely to see you and your team again, and please pass on my thanks to them for giving up their day to support the hospice.

16 August 2015 - Wessex Country Fair

It was a great privilege to witness Poppy and Stephen's gundog training display at our Fete in Newton Tony this year showing us all how it should be done. They made it all look so easy. I can safely say that I have never seen a gundog display as good as this – ever. Training tips, gundog skills, tricks – it had it all, everything explained in simple terms by Stephen as he went along. You could sense local dog owners watching with total admiration yet knowing their own dog would not even get off first base. Poppy clearly knows her stuff and was quite outstanding in demonstrating her skills and showing all the results of Stephen's expert tutelage.

What really stole the show was the amazing array of tricks that Stephen & Poppy perform together. It was so entertaining and breathtaking to see man and dog working in complete harmony. The audience loved it, the children in particular. It was certainly a great crowd puller. We really hope they will agree to come back next year"

At today’s Warminster Carnival, gundog trainer Stephen Harrison and his dog Poppy gave a training demonstration and performed tricks to rapturous applause.

Fans of “Britain’s Got Talent” will have seen the dog “Pudsey” win the show and with it, £500,000 doing tricks like walking on his owner Ashleigh’s feet, walking on his hind legs, albeit flawlessly to music. Poppy did all this and more, including balancing a sausage on her nose until being allowed to eat it and carrying another sausage to her master, also uneaten.

Dear Stephen,
I should like to congratulate you on the show that you put on. It was both very entertaining and educational. Perhaps I should praise your dogs more so given the faultless performances they gave. They really are a credit to you and your training methods.
I'm very grateful for the fact that after the show you devoted so much time to patiently answering my questions on training. In particular your demonstration on dealing with lead pulling which already is having very positive results.
I look forward to seeing your demonstration again and have made a note of the Wessex Country Fair in my diary.
