Super day out at the Shaftesbury show ground.

A really well organised and run event which was so well attended. I was so surprised at the crowds, most of whom had come to see the magnificent horses at work but also the large number of countryside trade stands. So by the time we were due to perform, the crowd around the ring was several deep.

We were in the main ring immediately following the hilarious and very skilful duck herding demo by our colleagues Freddie & Victor. So, not only did we have a ring with piles of freshly deposited horse manure, but we also had the scent of 20 ducks to greet Pops & Daisy: I feared the worst …..

But, for whatever reason, the girls chose today to excel. No hiccups, lots of focus, enthusiasm and a faultless display of tricks. The dogs drew both laughter and generous applause, as a result of which we had people queuing to meet the dogs afterwards and ask questions about their own dogs. That’s the bit I love most – trying to help people with their canine challenges. In fact, we were kept for 90 mins or so and nearly missed a sumptuous buffet lunch in the sponsors’ tent. But we all managed to pig out before leaving feeling full and very satisfied with our day out.

Thanks go to Brian Willis, the Chairman of WHHS, for inviting us and for hosting us so well.
