Why would someone book a gundog lesson and then tell me:
“I don’t do it that way”
“I don’t think that’ll work”
“I’m not going to try that”
“I’m going to continue to take my pup walking and shooting”
“I’ve been training dogs for years. I know what I’m doing. The problems are with the dog, not me”
If I did this training lark for a living, I’d grit my teeth, smile and massage egos in order to retain their business. But I don’t: this is a hobby. So I tell them to crack on, they clearly don’t need me and not to waste any more of both our time. And they don’t ask me back and we don’t exchange Christmas cards. And I’m content with that.
